kyoto!

If Tokyo is Japan’s wild child, Kyoto is its refined sibling.

Kyoto is a timeless jewel full of serene temples, lush gardens, majestic imperial palaces, sacred Shinto shrines, forested mountains, beautiful rivers and charming traditional wooden houses.

To us it represents grace, beauty, history, love and an endless source of adventure.

Our Ceremony will be held at Seiryuden Temple (also referred to as Shogunzuka). According to legend, Seiryuden perched on Mt Higashiyama is where the story of Kyoto began.

hotels + INNS

Kyoto is home to many stunning hotels and ryokans (traditional Japanese inns). We recommend saying close to city center and in a Japanese hotel brand. We’ve starred some of our favorites!

While Kyoto is a large city, it has a small footprint. The hotels we listed below are within a 15 min Uber of the wedding venue! Those further out are listed under “Off The Beaten Path”.

Open our HOTEL MAP to view Hotels, Our Villa, and our Wedding Venue locations.

Some tips if it’s your first time in Japan:

  • Most reservations are cancellable, book them early!

  • Check bed style… Ryokans often have tatami mats

  • Confusing websites? Email the hotel

  • Prices often change in Spring due to Cherry Blossom season

MACHIYA (HOME RENTAL)

Great for groups or those looking for space, a Machiya is a traditional style townhouse. Most have an updated aesthetic and some have amenities like tubs and saunas. They are self service like an Airbnb, yet breakfast delivery and cleaning are available as guest services.

Our preferred brand is Machiya Residence Inn with 50+ options available around Kyoto, many at a reasonable price.

For convenience we highly recommend you stay north of Route 1, which is the highway that splits the city into North and South.
